Greetings! I am Banica Woods, born and raised in Oakland, CA. I am a Mother, a Sister to 8 siblings, a full time employee of the Social Services Agency, and a successful student of the Management and Supervision Certificate Program Cluster 14.
Making the decision to return to school to complete this program has been life altering! “Why?” you ask. After several attempts at completing several PACE programs and other accelerated colleges, I was discouraged as I struggled to balance work, attending class, homework, all while being a single parent to my now 10-year-old son. I was desperate for change and a chance to be greater, so I attempted to enroll in the Management Program.
After contacting Claudio Lane, the coordinator and previous graduate of the program, I was told that I missed the registration deadline and the class was at capacity. I was devastated but determined to be great! I attended the orientation anyway and was told to have a seat in the waiting area to see if everyone who signed up would attend. I did not listen! I went right into the class, signed the roster as if I knew this would be my new team. Now, as a graduate of Cluster 14 I knew that it was MY spot to claim and I did just that!
Professor Glosson is phenomenal and that is truly an understatement. She instilled in us the importance of proper communication, teamwork, and the true definition of being an effective leader and member of a team. I wish I could recommend this class as a mandatory course for all County workers! Best commitment I’ve made in a long time. Thank you for the opportunity to allow me to continue to be GREAT!
Final Assignment Submitted!
