How to Prepare for an Alameda County Interview

jonathan rodriguez News

The County conducts behavioral interviews which are designed to measure your performance in an open position through standardized questions.

Usually these questions start with a statement like “Tell me about a time when…” or “Can you describe a situation where…”

Here’s six tips to help you prepare:

  • Be familiar with the position you’re applying for (Read the job description completely and understand the attributes and behaviors that the organization is looking for).

  • Make a list of examples pertaining to each of the different topics covered within the job description.

  • Use quotes from your customers, clients, coworkers or supervisors to reinforce your assertions.

  • Use the STAR method for answering questions (Situation or Task, Action and Result).

  • Use recent examples so that you can provide as much detail as possible.

  • Make your stories vivid and concise through practice.
